What Does Our Online Course Provide California Boaters?

This state approved course allows boaters to study at home at their own pace, and it covers state and federal boating laws, rules of the road, boat handling, required equipment, navigational aids, accident reporting and special topics.

Why Would I Need One?

As of 2018, all boaters will be required to carry a boater card.

As of the dates shown below, these boaters will be required to carry a boater card issued by DBW.

  • January 1, 2022:  Persons 45 years of age or younger
  • January 1, 2023:  Persons 50 years of age or younger
  • January 1, 2024:  Persons 60 years of age or younger
  • January 1, 2025: All persons regardless of age
